I dig Berlin. It has THAT special something. That undeniable cool factor. A killer selection of vintage shops -- I was in heaven and almost couldn't handle it. Their clothes and stores are even too cool for me. The entire city offered THE perfect backdrops for photoshoots and films -- now it makes sense why so many movies are filmed here. Cafes, restaurants, and establishments oozing with personality and character. I like to fondly refer to Berlin as the "NYC" of Germany (please don't hate me for saying that).
Berlin's Parliament is every bit bad ass.
Our adorable hotel decor
Our "elevator." Can you now see why so many movies are made in Berlin? Everything -- even this elevator --- makes a great backdrop!
Even this too!
OMG. Yum.
Their banks are too cool for school. No big deal.
Cruising through Kudamm.
The great divide that once was.
Straddling what once was East and West Germany.
Remnants of the Berlin Wall.
Holocaust Memorial.
Parliament
Oh, helloooo Angie and Brad!
I bet something was filmed here.
Taking a load off at a local cafe.
I was coming down with a terrible cough that week. Drinking spiked tea.
Goulash.
I have no idea what this place is, but I saw it in a tourist app, though it looked cool (and very Berlin -- whatever that means), and asked Luisa to take me. She did. What a good friend. :)
Recognize this orange cardi in this post? One of my favorite buys from my trip (next to my wedding dress and shoes!). At my request, Luisa and her cousin Nora agreed to make a quick stop at a vintage shop down the street from Nora's flat. I couldn't believe how many beautiful garments and one-of-a-kind items were just waiting for a second chance at life. I picked up the above chunky orange hand-knitted cardigan for 50 euros. I especially loved and appreciated how the sleeves fit tighter around the wrist, so I won't have to worry about it stretching or sagging at the ends.
Walls of books. Pillows and cushions on stairs. In love. Someone needs to open a bar like this in NYC!
And, there you have it. My entire trip to Germany and Italy, documented. I'm already dreaming of my next vacation abroad... I'm thinking of saying bonjour to Paris...
Oh, and as a Christmas present / belated wedding gift, please follow my blog? ;)
xx and Happy Holidays to all,
Luna

DeleteGreat to hear that you loved Berlin! Where did you go shopping? Btw its actually the Parliament and not City Hall ;). There is a city hall in every single district of the city.
ReplyDeleteHey Angel! Thanks for the correction. :) I need to start writing the names down! Hmm... Luisa and I popped into a few vintage shops and local boutiques. I can't remember the names for the life of me! :/ I love your city!
DeleteLooks like an amazing trip! Happy holidays!
